The 30km Trail Run begins near the edge of the South Pacific Ocean, and takes you to the picturesque village of Lincoln. The course starts at the beginning of Kaitorete Spit and you cross through farmland before coming to Lake Ellesmere. You get to enjoy the diverse wildlife as you run through this section until you get to the Motukarara Railway Station. The 17km Trail Run sets the Rail Trail theme right from the get-go, with the start line being at the Motukarara Railway Station. The course takes you through the rich Selwyn soils that give us the lush green of the district, before taking you on to quiet country lanes as you near Lincoln. You have a bit of fun here as you make your way over the stepping stones above the water, before taking the picturesue pathways alongside the Liffey to the Finish Line in the village of Lincoln.
The 5km Run/Walk is a great event suitable for everyone. The course is flat and fast for the more competitive runners, and it is also scenic and easy underfoot for those with prams or walkers wanting to 'walk and talk'.
The course begins at the Lincoln Wetlands and you make your way through Lincoln alongside the Liffey, under trees, beside ponds, and over footbridges. It truly is a great course and shows off the wonderful pathways around Lincoln. Perfect for everyone!
Everyone loves a Kids Dash! The Rail Trail Rampage offers a fun 'Chase the Superhero' event for the young ones that is heaps of fun for not just the kids. Parents and Grandparents are able to support their child/ren from the sidelines as they chase the Superhero around the Lincoln Domain.
There are no podium prizes for this event as the focus is all about having fun, but every competitor gets a medal and has a great time.
